The 2023 Oscars are finally here, signaling the end of an awards season rich with glorious red carpet moments and moving acceptance speeches. As we train our attention on the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, where Jimmy Kimmel will soon take the stage as this evening’s host, big questions abound. How will things shake out in the acting categories, three of which feel excruciatingly close? ➤ ► 🌍📺📱👉LIVEOscars Awards Will Everything Everywhere All at Once, which premiered at SXSW a full year ago, verse-jump its way to the best-picture prize? Will any high jinks activate the Oscars’ newly assembled “crisis team”? And—perhaps most importantly—what will the likes of Michelle Yeoh, Cate Blanchett, Michelle Williams, Angela Bassett, Paul Mescal, and Austin Butler wear? There’s only one way to find out. Kick back with something appropriately fizzy and follow along for minute-by-minute updates of the 2023 Oscars—on the clothes, the wins, and everything in between—from Vogue’s fashion and culture teams. And, with that…action! We weren’t entirely sure what she meant, but watching Curtis, who is nominated for Best Supporting Actress for her role in Everything Everywhere All At Once, step out in a beautifully beaded gown that matched the “champagne carpet” almost exactly, it all suddenly made sense. Of course, the accidental monochrome only makes the details of her gown stand out more—how great are the subtle corset details at the waist? Her smoky eye makeup and fresh white pixie hair are the cherry on top. Marcel the Shell with Shoes On is on his way to shut down the Oscars red carpet wearing none other than Thom Browne. The Academy Award nominee is wearing a custom oxford cotton collar and grosgrain bow tie. The shoes in question? White patent brogues, of course. I honestly can’t picture a single better nominee for Browne to dress tonight—as my friends and I are calling this in the groupchat, this is “unserious” in the absolute best possible way. I’m curious to see where menswear will go tonight, particularly after the fall 2023 collections steered towards traditional elegance, all around the suit and tie. Will we continue to see more of the playfulness from the last couple of years—Timothée Chalamet bare-chested in Louis Vuitton womenswear last year, for instance—or will guests all follow Marcel’s lead and go back to bowties and brogues? Either way, I’m manifesting some properly tailored suits here. Marcel stays the blueprint!

Last year's Academy Awards saw CODA take the Oscar for best picture, which was a great win for an Apple TV+ original movie. Will Smith also won best actor for his role in King Richard, though he is better remembered for slapping Chris Rock. Finally, Jesica Chastain won best actress for her role in The Eyes of Tammy Faye.
